6 More Affordable & Yummy Places to Eat in Bali

This is an overdue post, but I just have to share this with you. 6 more affordable and yummy places to eat in Bali! If you don't know the place yet...

#1 // Babi Guling Pak Malen

Babi guling (a.k.a Balinese suckling pig) is a must have item to eat when you are in Bali. Babi Guling Ibu Oka has been one of the most famous babi guling in Bali, but I found that Babi Guling Pak Malen is more to my liking, especially the tangy and clear yellow soup. The taste is just right, and the price is ranging from IDR 30k to 50k, depends on what you are ordering.

Address: Sunset Road No. 5, Seminyak, Kuta, Bali

#2 // Ayam Taliwang Bersaudara
Ayam Taliwang is one of the signature dish of Lombok, Nusa Tenggara Barat (West Nusa Tenggara). Lombok island is just next to Bali and Bali has been the place to promote the food from West Nusa Tenggara. Certainly you can't miss it. I don't know how the real Ayam Taliwang in Lombok taste like, but I supposed this Grilled Ayam Taliwang might be close to the original one. I like that it has the smokiness and sweetness in its spices.
Address: Jalan Raya Kuta no. 89 (Imam Bonjol)
#3 Bebek Sawah Indah
Well, most people go to Bebek Tepi Sawah or Bebek Bengil, when it comes to eating duck in Ubud, Bali. However, many of them don't know that there is one more place that you've got to visit if you want to eat duck rice in Bali. Bebek Sawah Indah is a hidden gem where you can really eat your duck rice LITERALLY right at the side of a very large rice field. And to make the experience more authentic (like the real rice farmers), they offer a few traditional gazebos made of woods and bamboos, where you have to sit on the floor while eating.
Now, while the price is not really cheap per se, but I still feel that the whole experience and ambience is nicer than the other restaurants and the price is similar. A complete set like above costs IDR 120k, and the most recommended dish here is the Bebek Goreng Garing (Crispy Duck). The duck meat was really good, it has less fat and the skin is more crunchy than the one Bebek Tepi Sawah has.
Address: Jalan Raya Goa Gajah, Peliatan, Ubud, Gianyar
#4 // Depot Gimbo Babi Asap

While Ayam Taliwang is from West Nusa Tenggara, this babi asap (smoked pork) is from East Nusa Tenggara. My dad was born in East Nusa Tenggara, so whenever he goes there, he would bring back at least 2 containers of these. It's been such a long time since the last time I ate this, and I'm really glad this place exists in Bali!
Address: Jalan Raya Imam Bonjol no. 350, Pemecutan Kelod, 80119, Denpasar, Bali
#5 // Warung KolegaFor those of you who wants to eat Javanese food, this place offers great mixed rice, they will provide you with rice as the base, you can choose either white rice or red rice, then you just pick which vegetables or meat you want. Basically the one that I ordered above contained lots of meat dishes, so it's kind of expensive for mixed rice. Together with the orange juice, the whole thing costs IDR 65k. The most recommended dish from this place is the Grilled Chicken, the meat texture is not dry and the spices are marinated well, and there was a little bit burnt taste which actually made the chicken more flavourful.
Address: Jalan Petitenget no. 98A, Kerobokan, Kuta
#6 // Gubuk Makan Bakso Keju (Buka Baju)
This eatery's name is catchy yet controversial. BUKA BAJU means 'Take The Clothes Off' in Indonesian. The only reason they use the name is because it's an acronym for GuBUk MaKAn BAkso KeJU, which means 'Cheesy Meatballs Eating Shack'.
This is how it looks like when you bite the meatballs, it's really yummy and sinful, because I bet you can't stop with one portion of meatballs. A bowl of cheesy meatballs with yellow noodles costs IDR 15k. I must admit that eventhough it's nothing new, the meatball's texture was not so hard and you can really taste the meat and not just flour taste like most meatballs are, and the burst of melted cheese when you bite the center just feels right.
They also offers another kind of meatballs, such as Bakso Rawit (Chili Padi Meatball) which costs IDR 2.5k per meatball, and Bakso Bakar (Grilled Meatballs) covered in chili sauce with a price of IDR 17k for 5pcs. For Bakso Bakar, you can choose the spiciness level of the chili sauce!
Address: Jalan Marlboro Barat, no. 8x, Denpasar, Bali

So, in case you don't know where to eat in Bali, you could try one of the places listed here! Enjoy!
